Gloucestershire bail hostels truth delayed
The Government has delayed telling Gloucestershire County Councillors about the location of bail hostels and offender housing within Gloucestershire. Following rumours of secret bail hostels in Gloucestershire, Conservative County Councillors sent a Freedom of Information request to the Home Office, requesting information about plans for offender housing in the county. Now the Home Office has confirmed that, whilst there are plans, they will not reveal further information for at least one month, whilst they consider the impact that releasing it would have on physical or mental health of unnamed individuals, presumably offenders.
Cllr Will Windsor- Clive, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, commented:
I find the Governments lack of openness particularly disturbing. People in Gloucestershire will be asking them what have they got to hide. It seems to me that, in delaying the release of this information, the Government is putting the wellbeing of offenders above the safety and wellbeing of Gloucestershire people.
We have a right to know what their secret plans are for Gloucestershire and the Conservatives will keep pushing them to tell us the truth.
